Finally: The Second Trimester!

Well, I didn't wake up and have that "magical" moment where nausea completely disappears and exhaustion simply goes away. However, this is week 14- and that in itself is an exciting milestone!

This week, Baby A is the size of a fist. The size of a fist! One thing is for sure, our baby is making room in this ever expanding waistline of mine. This morning I looked in the mirror and that belly is more obvious today than ever before. Although it's a blessing to know that we have successfully entered into the second trimester and that the baby is healthy, I also am anxious to have this belly grow. The larger the belly, the more obvious the pregnancy! I have a belly and a baby, but right now- I just feel chubby...

This week brought along some other fun symptoms. Early in the pregnancy, I noticed that I have hiccups every morning. Sometimes only one big one, but they are always there. Today is no different. Something new is this congestion that accompanies my already very sore throat. My cravings have changed, yet again. Instead of chicken noodle soup or ice cream, I want curry and HOT food. I suddenly LOVE jalapenos! I still get very nauseous if I miss a meal and nearly threw up yesterday on my drive home...but every day gets a little better. ;)

There is also one other new development. Last night, after my nap, I felt something "flutter" in this baby belly of mine. It was on the left side of my stomach and although it happened so quickly, I have an inkling that it was our Baby A making his/her appearance. I remember when we found out that we were expecting, I swore I could feel this butterfly sensation all the time. I accredited it to the magic that occurs in a mommy's belly as a baby is formed. Last night's flutter was much more deliberate- let's hope it happens again soon!

So, that's today's update. Week 14 brings about promise of flutters, less negative pregnancy symptoms, and of course, a rounder belly.

Welcome!

Hello friends and family,

This is my first time "blogging," so please bear with me as I learn the ropes and develop the page!

This Christmas, as you may know, was one for the books. After weeks of friends and family asking if I was pregnant, I decided to take an Early Pregnancy Test late Christmas night. Well, that was the moment that our lives changed forever. Late that evening, Tim and I discovered that my "glow" existed for a reason; we were going to be parents. What a scary, amazing, nerve-racking, and exciting piece of news!

Since Christmas, we've gone through the many highs and lows throughout this first trimester. While these moments are not always pleasant, they are all so memorable.

From this point on, I want to share these memories with our friends and families. I want you to watch as we grow as a family, week by week. Because truth be told, "it takes a village" to raise a wonderful family, not just a mother and a father.

We cannot wait to share "Baby A" with you all and look forward to your comments, your input, and most importantly, your support over these next few weeks!
